Doing Things You Couldn't Do Before

On vacation my daughter tried snorkeling. All our other vacations she never wanted to snorkel, because of her weight. I convinced her to give snorkeling a try. I reminded her it was great exercise and it will help keep the cruise weight down. She likes exercise now, because she knows it helps her lose weight and it keeps her from gaining it back. My husband and daughter went out to snorkeling on the beach at Grand Cayman Island. When she left for her adventure she was mainly thinking of snorkeling for exercise. She came back and was so excited, because she seen beautiful colored fish and coral reefs. Just think, this was what she was missing out all those years. Last year, when she was overweight she couldn't hardly keep up with us walking and exploring islands. Now, she doesn't have any trouble keeping up with us. It's like she received a new life. Also, on last years trip there was one day she couldn't go with us, because her foot was swelled up so bad. This year she didn't have that problem with her foot swelling up that she couldn't go along. Her foot did swell a little, but nothing like last year. So when your watching The Biggest Loser and you hear them talk about all the things they missed out on because of their weight, they are right.

What!!! Losing Weight Does More

Your probably wondering what more can losing weight do for you, except it makes you feel good about yourself. It gives you BIG TIME self-esteem and it makes you feel so good about yourself. I used to hate to shop, because I had to look for clothes that covered up my big belly. Now, I can wear almost anything, because I don't have problem areas to hide anymore. Everything I put on fits good and no more hiding problem spots. I look forward now to dressing up and going out with friends, because now I can put on my skinny jeans and feel good about myself. You have to lose weight and give it a try. I GUARANTEE you that you will be a happier person!

Before losing the 50 pounds I had severe back problems. I was going to the chiropractor 3 times a week. I found out I have degenerating disc disease. After, I lost 25 pounds my back didn't hurt as bad and I didn't need to go to the chiropractor as much. Now, after 50 pounds lost I don't need a chiropractor, my back doesn't bother me much. My back pain will never completely go away, but now I can do normal housework and it doesn't hurt anymore. I feel normal again, before I didn't think I could make it to 70 years of age. I can carry grocery bags in and not suffer days after that. It is AMAZING what losing 50 pounds can do. My whole family had health benefits too, not just me. I know you will get benefits too if you stick with it.

My daughter always had lymphedema in her legs, ankles and feet. She will always have it, there is no cure for it. She was born with medical conditions and it is a part of her life. Before my daughter lost any weight she always had to wear support stocking to keep the swelling down. It didn't look to cute her wearing a knee high support stocking in the middle of the summer. She never could wear flip flops or sandals and always had to wear tennis shoes. Now, after losing the weight she lost she doesn't have to wear the support stocking all the time. We went on a cruise in January and she was able to wear sandals for the first time in many years. Her ankle did swell up once on the cruise, but I think it was from all the salt in the food. Since, I started cooking healthy I don't use as much salt I don't need all that salt to cook. I use more herbs and spices to flavor my food. So it is just so much fun for her not to wear that old lady stocking every day and she can wear flip flops every now and then. Every now and then she will still need that stocking, but only if she eats too much salt or if she is on her feet too much. My daughter always had high blood pressure and high cholesterol, so I'm anxious for test results in a few months when she goes back to the doctor. Her doctor is always telling her to lose weight year after year and almost 90 pounds later she succeeded. Her last appointment she was down 50 pounds now it is 88 pounds her doctor will be so surprised.

My husband used to always complain about his feet hurting, before he lost his weight. We would buy expensive shoes with good arches and even bought arch inserts but nothing really helped, until he lost the weight. Now, he never complains about his feet hurting. Is that a coincidence or what?

Get & Stay Skinny Tips

I am going to give you a few of my favorite skinny weight tips. Eat celery at least once a day. Celery is what I call a "filler upper" with hardly any calories. Try it for a few weeks and give it a try. I used to hate celery, but now I eat it daily. I learned this trick from my skinny 100 pound friend. My friend would eat celery at least once a day and I remembering telling her that I didn't like celery. I was desperate so I tried it and honestly I didn't like the taste of it at first. It took me a few weeks to get adjusted to the taste and I'm still not sure I am that crazy about it. Now, my husband eats it too, but he has to have light ranch dressing with his. I try to stay away from extra calories. Give celery a try it fills your belly up so your not hungry. Best of all it is cheap to buy in the stores. If your still not a fan of celery that's okay, because my daughter lost close to 90 pounds and she never liked or ate it. So you can still lose weight without the celery. It's just this tip really worked for me and if you think about it there isn't many calories in celery. Celery - A GREAT FILLER UPPER!

The new Weight Watchers Points Plus you get your vegetables and fruits and they don't count as points. (There are a few things you do have to count, but not many) My daughters doctor told us when we started to lean more on vegetables, because fruits still have carbs and calories. I'll be honest I wasn't a vegetable eater before this diet, but I learned how to cook them to make them taste good. I use a lot of herbs and spices when I cook and the food tastes so much better.

I'm Back and 50 Pounds Lighter

I'm back and plan on starting to blog again. I have to tell everyone on how I lost the 50lbs. My daughter lost 88 pounds and my husband lost 25 pounds. My daughter went from wearing 3x & 4x shirts to small shirts. She was wearing a size 18 jeans and now she is in size 5 and she even has a size 2. We even went on a cruise for a week and my daughter lost 2 pounds. We started dieting last May around mothers day so it didn't even take a year and my daughter almost lost 100 pounds.

I've tried so many diets and my most successful one was the Weight Watchers. I lost weight with Atkins before and I liked that diet because I was full all the time. What I didn't like was that if you cheated once you would gain weight. I did miss my desserts too. Every now and then I want something sweet. The new Weight Watchers points plus you are never hungry, which is what I like. You can basically have as many fruits and vegetables you want and boy do we eat lots of them. I will start posting all my little tips that helped my family lose weight. I think the biggest tip is that it is mostly in your head. You have to motivate yourself and put those motivating thoughts in your head.

Busy & stressful week

This week has been busy and stressful at work. I took off last Friday and then we were off on Memorial day so I am behind on my work. The first of the month is always busy anyway. I hope that my body doesn't quit losing weight from stress. On biggest loser they say stress can cause you to stall. I did lose a lb so far this week.

It seems like the weight is coming off so slow now. I have been watching what I eat and doing lots of exercise. I guess it coming off slow than not at all or gaining is better than nothing.

By the way. I did really good over Memorial weekend. We went boating every day. I bought me low carb & low calorie beer and brought healthy lunches on the boat for the whole family.

I am really getting into this dieting and exercise. It usually takes a few weeks to get into the roll of things.

Keeping up on it

I am still keeping up with the dieting and exercise. I am a little aggravated, because I have been doing really good this week and not losing any weight. I know it isn't muscle, because I've been doing this for awhile and mostly doing cardio. I need to find my sons hand weights they are heavier than mine. Mine are only like 2 lbs I think.

This Memorial Day weekend will be tough. We will be on a boat most of the weekend and lots of junk food and beer. Last week I brought along these pita pockets and we put lunch meat in them. That was pretty healthy. I am trying to think of healthy things I can eat when on the boat. I brought along nuts and that was better than chips.

Having a Great Day!

Today, is going good. The only disappointing thing is I worked out a lot yesterday and didn't lose any weight. I thought for sure it would get rid of a pound. I ate right yesterday too. Hopefully, I will see the difference tomorrow.

I bought a swim suit yesterday and really like it. No bikini yet! :( Although, it is two pieces. I learned if you buy a more expensive swimming suit it looks better on you and hides alot. It has better support and the material is better. I usually hate looking for swim suits, because it seems like I always need a size bigger they run small.

I went on a fitness walk today during my lunch. I might try taking that way sometimes, just something different. I am lucky my workplace has neighborhoods behind us so I can go walking.
